Patricia inherited a Spanish school textbook from her dad dating back to the 60s. It reveals A LOT about Spain at the time and helps us to understand the WJEC topic of “traditional and modern values” at AS level. I’ve been using her PDF scans for six years now (many others are too!) and today it only occured to me they’d be the perfect material for a Boletín issue.
👋Welcome (back) to Boletín, an English-language newsletter covering historical, cultural and topical stories related to the A Level Spanish course. These newsletters accompany a student worksheet which can be downloaded freely here. This week:

Okay, it’s another super brief one. I’m sorry!
In class today we explored these brilliant scans of a Spanish school textbook dating back to the 1960s. Patricia, who inherited them from her dad, scanned them in and shared them back in 2020 and they’ve been super useful ever since.
They’re particularly useful since a theme of the WJEC AS course is ‘traditional and modern values’ and after reading a few pages of the textbook you’ll begin to understand the significance of the ‘traditional’ aspect. To the surprise of nobody, the boys and girls sections are vastly different.
Check them out below.
