Boletín 86 - La emancipación, emigración y las nuevas tecnologías
Hi subscribers,
It has been a while since the last issue. Life is busy with a new house, pregnant wife, best man speech and exams. Nonetheless edition 86 is now out. The focus is on young spaniards and the texts are based on leaving home, addiction to gaming and social media and emigrating for better job prospects.
In putting together this edition I found a very interesting website which appears to release an annual report on young people’s beliefs, interests and worries. Unfortunately the book on Spain isn’t available to buy anywhere but the good thing is the Observatorio de la Juventud en Iberoamérica doesn’t seem to focus soley on Spain but rather the whole of Latin America too! Their findings for Peru are available for free here. There are detailed findings too for Ecuador, Argentina and Colombia. I have barely scratched the surface with this website but it seems to be a bit of a goldmine!
Grammar to look out for in edition 86:
Conditional irregulars
Por/para (where por can translate to due to)
Avoiding the passive
Preterite tense
The gerund (ing verbs)
Apocopation
The present subjunctive
Printed Boletín update:
The printers are currently putting together quotes for the printed Boletín. An issue which has arisen is that it is too big to be bound like it was last year and may actually have to be more like a book. I am not sure about prices yet but will keep everybody informed.

Cheers,
Ollie
